School Visit!

Irish Step Dancing was a big hit!
We had an amazing visit at a school outside of the village where we are working.  After a formal introduction by the headmaster, Team India danced, sang, and played music for a very enthusiastic audience!

Students were then dismissed to their individual classrooms.  We went to the classrooms in pairs to share customs, cultures, and dance!

  4. Don't know whether Andrew was able to do his rap dancing but he certainly looks as though he enjoyed having the microphone in that one photo! I seem to use the word "amazing" a lot when I tell people of your journey, Col, but it just fits. Seeing the photos of the school and the children...the things you are experiencing are so completely off the radar that is life here in Portsmouth, RI. Keep smiling--the world needs more people like you, and all of Team India and Team Nicaragua, who care and want to make things better. We are so proud and love you so much!! XOXO

  6. Fabulous pictures! Looks like a fantastic day. Love the Irish step dancing :). What a rewarding experience for everyone involved--while you are making an impact of their lives--they are all making a difference in your own lives too. You will all be forever touched by this time of your lives. Soak up every moment , Luke. We miss you so much & could not be prouder. Hello from all of your family & the compound--everyone is so happy for you. FYI, enjoy the warmth & sunshine--it is snowing here AGAIN!! Addison's party is still happening though--can't wait to share these pictures...keep them coming. Love you! Thanks Kim, Dave, Gerri & Shirley

  8. What a memorable day! I loved being able to see the outside and the inside of the school...how different it is from Portsmouth High! As an ESL teacher, I'm really curious about whether or not the teachers and students can speak English. Were you guys able to communicate in English, or did you speak the local language? (I know Alanna was fluent by the time she left, since she spent hours studying the word list... ha ha). I teared up when I saw the picture of Alanna and Colleen step dancing - who would have thought they would ever be dancing in a village school in India? Mrs. Nevin would be so proud (although she would probably be wondering why you were not wearing your Nevin Academy t-shirts!). I see that Ella is busy filming; we will all be so excited to see your documentary, Ella! Thank you also to Kim for sending your son a text, and to Mary for forwarding it to the rest of us. It helps so much to be in touch and to see these wonderful photos. Thank you for taking the time out of your very busy days to keep us posted. As for what's going on in Portsmouth, you're certainly not missing much - snow, snow, snow again today. It's windy and cold, and we will all be outside shoveling soon. Better to be changing lives in a small village in India. :) We love and miss you! XO

  9. Jenna, I love the pic of you and Andrew in the classroom. I'm excited to see your camera also. I hope you're taking tons of pics! As you know, I am normally the emotional one, but I'm sending you a quote from Mom from an e-mail she sent to Sheli, I think it says it all...."It is so exciting watching her from afar...I cried when I saw the first pic of her with one of the children in the village. We are so proud of her and her choices. I miss her like crazy."..... We love you!

  10. Colton, You guys look like you are having great time. The schools look very different than the schools here. I t really seems like the children there are so excited that you guys are there. I was wondering what you and Ben said when the microphone was being passed around. We were having fun guessing what you guys would be saying.. This is Brady now "is it really hot down there, theres a huge snowstorm here and the basement is ours now, i miss you" Love you and can't wait to see you!!! Love Dad

  12. Wow! What an emotional day and culturaly rich day. You are all doing such amazing things. I wish I were there with you. Jenna, you look like you are having so much fun with your friends while you are doing all this great humanitarian work. I love the school photos, of course, since I am a teacher. You and Andrew looked like you were having a blast. What did you talk about with your class? I am so proud of you. Words cannot express how wonderful it is to see you doing this. I am very glad to see you were at church too. God be with you my beautiful Goddaughter.
    Love, Mingy
