Community Center Dedicated to Garry Allan

Andrew hanging the plaque in the community center

This morning was very special.  Before the start of the work day, we dedicated the Village Community Center to the memory of Garry Allan.  It was a very moving tribute.

Andrew has been very strong.  We are all so proud of him.

This poem on the plaque was written by Andrew for his Dad

  1. Andrew, what a moving poem and a beautiful tribute to your Dad. Although I didn't know him, I can see by the person you have become and the love you feel for him what a great father he was. As your Mom told me at the Infinity send-off dinner, suffering his loss is so, so sad. We can never have enough of the people we love, but I truly believe your Dad knows the wonderful work that you are doing in India, and he feels the love that you put into that poem. Lori, we are here for you if you need anything. You must be so proud of Andrew, who is clearly a remarkable boy.

  2. What a wonderful and touching moment. Andrew, I am so proud of you. Kim, you truly are a very special person. I think us parents left behind in cold, blustery RI should have "CIRCLE TIME"!!! Glad I bought some small packets of kleenex. I need to keep in my pocket today. You brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for making me so proud :

    1. Lori - Circle Time for the parents.... GREAT idea! Let's do it! Dan is in NH with the kids because I have to work this week, but I think I can host on Friday. What does everyone think? Does the group come back on Sat. or Sun.? If they come back on Sunday, then Saturday would be OK too.

  3. Lori, one thing that I've noticed is that Andrew is smiling in every photo...whether working or confronting an exasperated ram. In fact, whenever I see Andrew he is smiling and laughing, bringing joy to those around. You and Garry have raised a wonderful young man who will no doubt continue to make you both proud. Andrew, your poem is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us and with the people of Chevuru.

  4. That is such a beautiful dedication! I was so very touched by just the photo. I'm sure it made an impact with everyone there! Lori, you must be so proud & have very reason to be- you have both raised a very special young man! Well said Karen & Mary---that room must have been filled with much love & admiration for Andrew's strength. Andrew, while you are making a difference to the people of Chevuru- you are also inspiring your peers-
