Saris, Kurtas, and Henna!

We all had a blast selecting the fabric for our saris and picking our kurtas!  We all now have henna tattoos!  Not to worry......they ONLY last a month!  Yikes!

  4. Yes, what a relief to see some pictures and to receive those texts - especially the one that came in around 11:20 or so last night... I couldn't go to sleep until I saw that! When I came out of my class at JWU yesterday, four of my colleagues were waiting for me with strange looks on their faces. I asked them what was going on, and they said that there had been a bike bombing in an outdoor market in Hyderabad. None of us had ever even heard of the city until Alanna went there with Infinity, and now the world news was that there was a bombing there? Wow - I never want to relive the terror that flowed through my body at that instant. We soon received the text that everyone was OK, though (Kim, you are an angel for sending that text!), and I was able to breathe again. It was actually an interesting moment for me because although I worried that I had exposed Alanna to unnecessary danger by allowing her to go to India, I also realized how little control I actually have over what happens in life (I mean, is it any more terrifying to send her to India than it is to send her out to drive alone on East Main road?). It's been an emotional week, from joy, to sadness, to fear - an experience, I'm sure, that none of us will ever forget, and that most definitely has left a permanent imprint on our kids' lives. Can't wait to see you all on Saturday night. Now you guys have to do your "no snow" dance because another big storm is coming in on Saturday night! XOXO Alanna - can't wait to hug you!

  5. What an artist...the henna design is so intricate and beautiful. Can't wait to see yours, Col! I'm just going to say "ditto" because the other parents have already said just what I've been thinking...so relieved that you are all safe and well. Colleen, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful face and giving you a great, big hug...love you so much! XOXO
