Community Center Dedicated to Garry Allan

Andrew hanging the plaque in the community center

This morning was very special.  Before the start of the work day, we dedicated the Village Community Center to the memory of Garry Allan.  It was a very moving tribute.

Andrew has been very strong.  We are all so proud of him.

This poem on the plaque was written by Andrew for his Dad

Good morning from India!

What an amazing journey we are all having!  Circle last night was wonderful and afterwards everyone huddled around the computer to read the comments from you all.  Keep 'em coming....we love it that you are sharing in our adventure!

Today's work in the village will be to whitewash (paint) many of the homes.  This should be a messy, but fun, task.  Late in the afternoon, we will visit the AIDS compound.  Should be a very emotional day.

I will try to post again in a few hours.

Tie Dye with the Village Children!

Shirts lined up according to size
After a long day of work, we were able to make to tie dye t-shirts with the children of the village.  What a blast!  We brought about 180 t-shirts ranging in size from infant to XL.  The children obviously had never done this before and were VERY excited.  Can't wait to see if they wear their shirts today!

Ramsey was so happy!

Third Day of Construction

After two days of very difficult and demanding roof work, we have now moved to plastering the inside of the homes.  In teams of two, we tackled seven homes.  We sifted the sand to be used in the stucco and helped deliver the prepared cement.

Giving Thanks

Some of us went to the sweetest little church today in the center of the village.  We have lots to be thankful for.  <3

School Visit!

Irish Step Dancing was a big hit!
We had an amazing visit at a school outside of the village where we are working.  After a formal introduction by the headmaster, Team India danced, sang, and played music for a very enthusiastic audience!

Students were then dismissed to their individual classrooms.  We went to the classrooms in pairs to share customs, cultures, and dance!
